= Introduction = This guide will describe in brief words how a motivated artist can help the project to advance. In addition there will be links leading to more detailled tutorials. = Beginning Steps = There are normally several ways how an artist get the idea to help Iris 2 by improving textures or providing models with higher quality. == New Object == *Sometimes you have a great idea for a totally new model. *So in order to get to know whether it is already implemented you can take the hard way by looking ingame for the object. *But an easier way would be just to open the Iris Art Tool and search for the object if it is already available and in what kind of quality. *If there is no realization of your idea yet, just build the object and give it a skin by just following this How to build a Model for Iris 2 == Improving existing Material == *If you find a texture or a model ingame which looks unfavorable according to your opinion. So follow that tutorial How to find a Texture or a Model to find the corresponding texture and model in your Iris 2 folder. *Copy the MDL mesh in the ./data/models/models folder and the texture in a new created folder and just import it in your 3d-programme with the help of this How to import a 3d Model. *As a texturer or skinner just work on the texture file following How to make Textures and Skins for Iris 2 *As a modeler import the model in your 3d programme How to import a 3d Model and get the its texture in the same folder. Begin to work following How to make a Model for Iris 2 and export with How to export a 3d Model = Test your Work = *After this, place your model with correct namebuild in .\data\custom\models\ directory.
Namebuild: mdl_00(tileid).mesh *Put any new Textures to .\data\custom\textures\ *Put any new Materials to .\data\custom\materials\. *In addition you have to replace the file in the textures, materials and models folder too. *Important is that you change the setting in "Options" in the Iris Client. There go to the button "Graphics" and choose "Ultrahigh" as your chosen quality. Then you will see your new model and your new tile. *Push F10 in order to get to the Developer Tool and there you see SearchStatic in that mask you have to type in the Hexadecimal ID of the model. *You can zoom and move the camera with W,A,S and D and with the help of ALT you speed up the zooming. And with r and f you can move the camera up and down. Shift sets the camera movement a little bit slower in order to see the small items. Push ALT+C in order to get into Ego-view that will help you to see items under roofs. = Upload your Files = *Please upload the files in an archive and put an additional readme.txt and a screen in it. Remember to send the texture or skin with the highest resolution so that other artists can use them if they want to alter them. For instance if the specification is only 256 x 256. So just send one image file with that resolution but also the one with which you worked and has a higher resolution. *In the readme.txt just describe in short words what you have done and note if it is an new item. *The screen should show the item before your rework and after your rework. This should help the Iris 2 core team to give you tips if they see some problems. =Tutorials= How to find a Texture or a Model How to make Textures and Skins for Iris 2 How to import a 3d Model How to make a Model for Iris 2 How to export a 3d Model
